Things to know
- Steve Allan recorded the best round of his PGA TOUR Champions career with a bogey-free 63 to take a two-shot lead over Doug Barron into Saturday’s second round of play at the DICK’S Open.
Steve Allan (9-under)
- Allan is looking to secure his second win of the season after claiming his maiden Tour title at The Galleri Classic Presented by Spotlight 29 Casino, which snapped a winless streak of 8,162 days (22 years, four months, six days) dating back to the 2002 Holden Australian Open; He would become the third player with multiple 2025 victories with a win this week.
- Allan is making his second career start at the DICK’S Open after a T6 effort in 2024, where he was solo-second after 18 holes with a 7-under 65.
- His round tied the low opening-round score at the DICK’S Open, matching Joe Ozaki in 2008.
- He earned the second 18-hole lead/co-lead of his Champions Tour career (2024 Invited Celebrity Classic, T3); the last player to hold at least a share of the first-round lead at the DICK’S Open and go on to win was Barron (65/T1) in 2019.
