The 2025 Korn Ferry Tour season resumes after a week break with the 36th playing of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Wichita Open, the 15th event of the Tour's 26-event schedule. The Wichita Open, held at Crestview Country Club in Wichita, Kansas, is one of four tournaments on the 2026 Korn Ferry Tour schedule to be played every season since the Tour's inaugural 1990 season. A storm system that slammed south-central Kansas on Monday evening led to the closure of Crestview Country Club on Tuesday, with the course re-opening on Wednesday.
Eleven Korn Ferry Tour members in this week's field competed at last week's U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club with three making the cut: Ryan McCormick (T50), Johnny Keefer (T61) and James Nicholas (T61). Pablo Ereno Perez (UCLA) and Algot Kleen (Lousiana State) who finished No. 9 and No. 10, respectively, in the 2025 PGA TOUR University Eligibility Ranking will make their professional debuts this week in Wichita. Additionally, Nos. 2-8 (Brendan Valdes, Ian Gilligan, Jackson Van Paris, Phichaksn Maichon, Preston Summerhays, Sebastian Moss and Omar Morales) are also in this week's field making their second starts of the season.
Eighteen-year-old Blades Brown recorded his second top 25 of the season at the BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by TD SYNNEX, earning a spot in this week's field. Brown, who will be making his sixth start of the year, needs a two-way T35 or better (20.051 points) to secure Special Temporary Membership for the remainder of the 2025 season.
Korn Ferry Tour rookie Keefer stands atop the 2025 Korn Ferry Tour Points List, where the top 20 players at the end of the Korn Ferry Tour Finals earn PGA TOUR cards for the 2026 season. Austin Smotherman captured his second career Korn Ferry Tour victory at the BMW Charity Pro-Am, vaulting him up to No. 4 on the Points List.
