Inside the Field: The 153rd Open Championship
2 Min Read

Xander Embedded | Ep. 5 | 2024 PGA Championship and The Open
The 153rd Open Championship heads to Royal Portrush Golf Club on the north coast of Northern Ireland. Hometown favorite Rory McIlroy and fellow three-time winner and major champion this season Scottie Scheffler headline a stacked field looking to win the famous claret jug. Xander Schaffele tees up as defending champion after winning his second major title last year. Shane Lowry was the last golfer to win The Open when Royal Portrush hosted in 2019.
The R&A uses several categories to determine The Open field. Here’s a look at The 153rd Open Championship field as of Wednesday, July 2.
