Grew up in Columbus, Georgia and honed his game at Country Club of Columbus, a Donald Ross design and host of the annual Southeastern Amateur, which Carr won in 2019 and 2021. Carr recalled, “I grew up out there. I grew up watching the Southeastern Amateur, and I always dreamed of playing in it and winning it.”

Has a unique, unusually strong grip – due mostly to his time playing baseball – he’s refused to change through the years. Carr recalled, “Everyone wanted to get my right hand more on top of the grip and get my left hand a little weaker. I would do it for the lesson, and I would come home and be hitting balls and it just felt awful.”

Finished No. 17 in the 2023 PGA TOUR University Ranking after five seasons at Georgia Southern University. Performance benefits included PGA TOUR Canada membership for the 2023 season and an exemption for Second Stage of 2023 PGA TOUR Q-School presented by Korn Ferry.

Played five seasons at Georgia Southern University (2018-23), where he earned four individual victories, including medalist honors at the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Championship, and was named the 2023 Sun Belt Player of the Year.

As a freshman, was teammates with multi-time PGA TOUR winner Steven Fisk, a senior on the 2018-19 team. Carr concluded his career ranked second in program history in career scoring average (71.19), only trailing Fisk (70.64).

Runner-up finisher at the 2022 U.S. Amateur Championship, contested at Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, New Jersey. Fell to Sam Bennett in the championship match.

Prepped at Columbus High School and led the team to three consecutive Georgia High School Association state championships (2016, 2017, 2018). Also won the individual state title in 2018.
