Got started in golf around the time he was 12 years old; he went to a golf and tennis camp for a weekend, after which he gravitated toward golf. Started to work with a coach and got serious about golf his sophomore year of high school.
Prepped at Regis Jesuit High School in Aurora, Colorado, which won four consecutive Colorado High School Activities Association Class 5A state titles from 2010 through 2013, with Korte helping the program win the 2012 and 2013 state titles with top-10 individual finishes. Other notable Regis Jesuit High School alums include five-time Olympic gold medalist Missy Franklin (Class of 2013) and actor John Carroll Lynch (best known for his roles in Crazy, Stupid Love, The Founder, Shutter Island, and Zodiac).
Loves to play piano and guitar. Says he gets his musical talent from his mother's side of the family, as one of his distant relatives (five generations removed) is legendary Czech composer Bedrich Smetana.
Says he is grateful he learned to play the piano – which he got into around the time he was five years old – as it "was an early training for complex, hand-eye coordination, precision and focus--all areas that parallel traits of an elite golfer."
Picked up an electric guitar and gave up piano during his middle school and high school years, but eventually rekindled his passion for playing piano.
Earned a personal training certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
Studied biology at University of Denver.
Amateur Highlights
Played four seasons at University of Denver (2014-18), where he was a three-time All-Summit League First Team selection.
Won the 2015 Colorado Golf Association Amateur Championship at CommonGround Golf Course in his longtime hometown of Aurora, Colorado.
