Earliest golf memory: "When I was around 5 years old at the Travelers Championship, Billy Andrade was on his way to the tee and my dad, my brother and I had stopped for a snack at a concession stand. Billy sat down right next to us at the picnic table and started eating my animal crackers. It was crazy at the time to be eating animal crackers with a pro golfer."

Grew up roughly 45 minutes from the Travelers Championship, and John attended the event several times throughout his youth. John later played alongside Rickie Fowler in the first Pro Junior Experience at the Travelers Championship.

Father won a member-guest in New Haven, Connecticut when he was young and used the pro shop credit to buy him his first set of clubs. In 2018, John won his first professional event (Connecticut Open) at the same course (New Haven Country Club) that got him started in golf.

Alongside his younger brother, Michael, helped Florida Southern win the team national title at the 2017 NCAA Division II Championship. John and Michael are separated by a year, and the two combined for back-to-back individual national titles, with John winning in 2018, followed by Michael in 2019.

Won the individual national title at the 2018 NCAA Division II Championship, in addition to earning the 2018 Division II Jack Nicklaus Award.

Helped Florida Southern win the team national title at the 2017 NCAA Division II Championship.

Two-time Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year (2017, 2018), as well as a four-time All-SSC honoree with first-team selections in 2017 and 2018, along with second-team laurels in 2015 and 2016.

Won the 2014 New England Amateur Championship. Past champions of the New England Amateur include eight-time PGA TOUR winner Brad Faxon (1980, 1981), four-time PGA TOUR winner Billy Andrade (1983), and three-time PGA TOUR winner J.J. Henry (1998).

Won the 2012 Connecticut Junior Amateur Championship.
