Earliest golf memory is hitting foam balls into a window with his grandpa, Young Dae Lim, who was a major influence as young Jeffrey developed a love for golf. Throughout his youth, Jeffrey spent the school year in South Korea but the summers in Los Angeles, where he would play Roosevelt Golf Course, an executive 9-hole course in Griffith Park. Jeffrey frequented Roosevelt Golf Couse with his grandpa, often chipping well into the evening.

Graduated from Sunny Hills High School in Fullerton, California. Other notable Sunny Hills alumni include Academy Award-winning director Kathryn Bigelow and National Baseball Hall of Fame inductee Gary Carter.

Favorite sports teams are the Los Angeles Lakers (NBA) and Los Angeles Dodgers (MLB).

Father, Soo Ho Kang, is an accomplished drummer in South Korea.
