Father, Mark, is a long-time head professional at Suburban Golf Club (began in 1999) in Union, New Jersey; he played collegiately at Montclair State University, turned professional in 1988, became a member of the PGA of America in 1993, worked as the head pro at Mount Tabor Country Club for seven years prior to transitioning to Suburban Golf Club, won the 2008 New Jersey State Open, won the 2019 New Jersey Senior Open, qualified for the 2012 U.S. Open at The Olympic Club and 2019 U.S. Senior Open at Salem Country Club, and was inducted into the New Jersey PGA Hall of Fame in 2021.

Says he was his father's de facto swing coach after the elder McCormick qualified for the 2012 U.S. Open at the Olympic Club in San Francisco.
