Born in Southport, a popular golfing area and coastal town in northwest England (less than 20 miles outside Liverpool). Learned to play on his local municipal course before showing promise as a junior at Formby Hall Golf Club under the tutelage of Norman Marshall.
As a youngster, he and his father, Pete, used to sneak on to the course at Royal Birkdale Golf Club. Would later make his first cut in an Open Championship at Royal Birkdale in 2017.
Watches lots of other sports including football (soccer), rugby, and darts. Supports Everton Football Club (based in Liverpool, England) in the Premier League.
Reads a lot of books including detective stories, historical books and biographies.
Enjoys yoga and meditation.
In May 2019, announced the founding of the Tommy Fleetwood Golf Academy at Formby Hall Golf Club, where he grew up playing junior golf. In 2022, announced the establishment of the Tommy Fleetwood Academy at the DP World Golf Performance Centre at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai.
Amateur Highlights
Won the 2010 English Amateur. Past champions of the event include Nick Faldo (1975), Paul Casey (1999, 2000), and Danny Willett (2007).
Helped England win the 2010 European Amateur Team Championship. Teammates included future DP World Tour winners Laurie Canter, Tom Lewis, Chris Paisley, and Eddie Pepperell.
Runner-up finisher at the 2008 Amateur Championship, contested at Turnberry.
Co-runner-up finisher at the 2010 European Amateur Championship.
Represented Great Britain and Ireland at the 2009 Walker Cup, contested at Merion Golf Club.
