Got started in the game by his parents, Bob and Mary, both avid players. Bob, played in the 2003 U.S. Senior Open as an amateur and is a former president of the Oregon Golf Association.

Played the piano for 11 years and participated in numerous competitions.

Scott and his wife, Jenn, were set up by former professional golfer Drew Stoltz, who is a close friend of Scott's.

Wife, Jenn, is a cancer survivor, which has led the couple to involvement with a number of different charities benefitting cancer patients, with Scott and Jenn focusing on charities which ease the financial burden of families amid their cancer battles. Jenn also serves on the board of the Baller Dream Foundation, and she chaired one of their events in 2023.

Jenn battled cancer (Hodgkin's Lymphoma) after an initial diagnosis in August 2017. Scott took a leave of absence midway through the 2018 Korn Ferry Tour season in order to care for Jenn. Following the initial diagnosis in August 2017, Jenn underwent three-and-a-half months of chemotherapy and was declared cancer-free in December 2017. However, on May 11, 2018, the doctors informed her the cancer had returned, and Scott took his leave of absence. Jenn's cancer eventually entered remission once again.

Proudly supports all Portland sports teams.
