Earliest golf memory is, at four years old, playing with his brother, Ricardo, and sister, Maria Regina, at the Club de Golf Malanquin in his longtime hometown of San Miguel del Allende, Mexico; he remembers getting a Cleveland hybrid for Christmas that year and hitting it all over the course.
Got into golf by following his older brother, Ricardo, at local tournaments.
Older sister, Maria Regina, earned a Ph.D in finance from University of Texas at San Antonio. She played four seasons on the women's golf team at St. Mary’s University (2015-19), an NCAA Division II program in San Antonio, Texas, where she won five times individually and broke school records for career scoring average, single-season scoring average, and career rounds in the 60s, in addition to earning 2019 All-America First Team and 2018 All-America Second Team selections.
Enjoys hiking, traveling and enjoying nature, as well as playing table tennis, padel, pickleball, and soccer.
Favorite sports team is Real Madrid, with his favorite player being Eduardo Camavinga.
Amateur Highlights
Won seven college tournaments in four seasons at St. Mary’s University (2016-20), an NCAA Division II program in San Antonio, Texas.
His seven victories included a win at the 2018 Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational, hosted by West Texas A&M University, where the Ryan Palmer Foundation endowment provides support for its golf programs.
Set numerous school records, including career wins (seven), single-season wins (four in 2017-18), single-season scoring average (70.68 in 2018-19), and career scoring average (71.83).
Earned three All-America honors, garnering first-team selections in 2018 and 2020, along with a third-team nod in 2019.
Earned three consecutive conference player of the year awards, winning back-to-back Heartland Conference Player of the Year awards in 2018 and 2019, followed by a Lone Star Conference Player of the Year award in 2020.
Represented Mexico at the Spirit International Amateur Golf Championship at Whispering Pines GC in Trinity, Texas.
