Has attended four college football national championship games in which LSU played (2003, 2007, 2011, 2019).

Father, Chuck Winstead, played golf and graduated from LSU in 1991, then returned to his alma mater and took over as the men's golf head coach ahead of the 2005-06 season. Winstead helped LSU win the 2015 NCAA Championship and 2015 Southeastern Conference Championship. In 2018, Winstead was promoted to Director of Golf, overseeing both the men's and women's programs. Winstead eventually stepped down as Director of Golf in October 2023.

Mother, Jennifer Winstead, served as CEO of Pennington Biomedical Research Foundation for 10-plus years until she stepped down in November 2014.
