Made the junior varsity high school basketball team but quit after his freshman year to concentrate on golf. Also played baseball as a pitcher.
Amateur Highlights
Finished No. 10 in the inaugural PGA TOUR University Class of 2021.
Transferred to Oklahoma for his fifth-year senior season after playing the first four seasons of his collegiate career at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro.
In his lone season at Oklahoma, he was a 2021 All-America Second Team and All-Big 12 Conference selection who finished T6 individually at the NCAA Championships, where he went 3-0 in match play as Oklahoma finished runner-up as a team.
Earned a 2019-20 All-America second-team laurels, was a three-time All-Southern Conference selection and was the 2017 Southern Conference Freshman of the Year while at UNC-Greensboro.
While still at UNC-Greensboro, won back-to-back starts in 2019, at the Rod Myers Invitational and the Wolfpack Intercollegiate. In Durham, North Carolina, shot a final-round 67 to defeat Adrien Pendaries by a shot. Two weeks later in nearby Raleigh, he took down Christian Salzer by a stroke.
Won his first college title, the Rice Planters Amateur at Snee Farm CC. Three consecutive 68s and a final-round 71 resulted in an end-of-regulation tie with Garrett Wood. Defeated Wood in a playoff for the title.
