Personal

Born in Atlanta, Georgia and grew up in nearby Stockbridge, where his father, Christopher (who passed away in April 2025), and another family from the area built (and operated for many years) Rum Creek Golf Course, the par-3 course and driving range Steven used to hone his game as a youngster. Rum Creek Golf Course opened around the time Steven was 4-5 years old, and he said it felt like a giant playground to him. Steven played the par-3 course four or five, and maybe even six times a day in his youth.

Has a unique grip he's refused to change. In fact, he went without a coach for many, many years because he feared the first thing a coach would want to do would be to change his grip. Fisk says of the grip, "I figured if I'm going to have success in this game, I'm going to do it my way and be stubborn, and do everything I can to make myself the best player I can be and rely on some of my natural instincts." Fisk also says, "I certainly think the right way to hold a golf club is different than the way I do it, but it's just so ingrained in me that, personally, I don't think I can change."

Grew up attending the TOUR Championship at East Lake Golf Club, where he got Tiger's autograph, as well as the Atlanta Classic, a former PGA TOUR event which was contested at TPC Sugarloaf in Duluth, Georgia. One of Steven's favorite childhood golf memories is Rocco Mediate letting him use one of his irons and putter during an Atlanta Classic practice round.

Runner-up in the individual portion of the 2019 NCAA Championships; he finished five strokes behind the medalist, Matthew Wolff, but notably finished ahead of Arizona State's Kevin Yu (3rd), Southern California's Justin Suh (T4), California's Collin Morikawa (T6), and Oklahoma State's Austin Eckroat (T8).

Defeated Devon Bling to advance to the Round of 32 at the 2019 U.S. Amateur Championship at Pinehurst Resort.
