Favorite teams are the San Francisco 49ers (NFL) and San Francisco Giants (MLB), while his favorite athletes are Tiger Woods, LeBron James, and Stephen Curry.

Amateur Highlights
Played four seasons at Stanford University (2015-19), earning 2019 All-America Second Team and All-Pac-12 Conference First Team honors, in addition to helping the Cardinal win the team national title at the 2019 NCAA Championships, the program's first national title since 2007.
Finished T6 individually (along with Cal's Collin Morikawa) at the 2019 NCAA Championships; he also went 3-0 in match play with wins over Wake Forest's Eugenio Chacarra in the quarterfinals, Vanderbilt's Patrick Martin in the semifinals, and Texas' Cole Hammer in the final as Stanford won the national title.
Won two events at Stanford -- Western Intercollegiate, NCAA Stanford Regional -- both as a senior in 2019.
Shot a tournament- and competitive-course-record 9-under 62 on the Lake Course at The Olympic Club in San Francisco in the third round of the 2018 Pacific Coast Amateur, propelling him to victory over runner-up Austin Eckroat, third-place Brandon Wu, fourth-place Will Gordon, Braden Thornberry and Collin Morikawa at T5, and Davis Riley at T7.
Reached the semifinals of the 2018 U.S. Amateur Championship at Pebble Beach; he defeated Will Grimmer in the Round of 64, Trevor Phillips in the Round of 32, Stewart Hagestad in the Round of 16, and Will Gordon in the quarterfinals before a loss to Devon Bling in the semifinals.
Made the Round of 16 at the 2019 U.S. Amateur at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club; he notably defeated Travis Vick in the Round of 64.
Represented the U.S. in the 2019 Walker Cup at Royal Liverpool GC in England. Posted a 2-1-0 record in his three matches, including a singles victory over Alex Fitzpatrick, during the Americans’ five-point win.
Won the 2017 Northern California Amateur Championship at Spyglass Hill, following fellow future professionals Shintaro Ban (2016) and Maverick McNealy (2015) as champions of the event.
