Amateur Highlights

Played four and a half seasons at Vanderbilt University (2016-2020), winning twice individually and earning numerous honors as a junior and senior, including 2019-20 Southeastern Conference Player of the Year, a 2019 All-America Third Team selection, 2020 All-America First Team selection, and back-to-back All-SEC First Team honors in 2019 and 2020 after an All-SEC Second Team selection in 2018.

Left Vanderbilt ranked second in program history in career scoring average (70.90), only trailing Matthias Schwab (70.76).

Made three PGA TOUR starts as an amateur off the strength of his win at the 2018 Players Amateur (earned spot at 2019 RBC Heritage for TOUR debut) and runner-up finish at the 2019 U.S. Amateur (earned exemptions for the 2020 U.S. Open and 2020 Masters Tournament).

Fell to Andy Olgetree in the title match of the 2019 U.S. Amateur Championship at Pinehurst Resort; he notably defeated Akshay Bhatia in the Round of 32, Ricky Castillo in the Round of 16, and William Holcomb V in the semifinals.

Qualified for match play at the 2018 U.S. Amateur Championship contested at Pebble Beach Golf Links, where he defeated Collin Morikawa in the Round of 64 before he fell to Mac Meissner in the Round of 32.

Won the 2018 Players Amateur, formerly an annual tournament in South Carolina organized by the Heritage Classic Foundation which featured a list of past champions that included Ben Curtis (2000), Bill Haas (2002), Camilo Villegas (2003), Brian Harman (2005), Rickie Fowler (2007), and Kevin Tway (2010).

Reached the quarterfinals of the 2018 Western Amateur at Sunset Ridge Country Club, defeating Collin Morikawa in the Round of 16 before falling to Brandon Wu in the quarterfinals.

Went 2-0 in singles and earned half a point in foursomes as the United States won the 2019 Walker Cup at Royal Liverpool; his U.S. teammates included Akshay Bhatia, Cole Hammer, Alex Smalley, and Brandon Wu.

Represented the United States at the 2019 and 2020 Arnold Palmer Cups; his 2019 teammates included Austin Eckroat, Will Gordon, Cole Hammer, Chandler Phillips, Alex Smalley, and Brandon Wu, while his 2020 teammates included Ricky Castillo, Pierceson Coody, Quade Cummins, John Pak, and Davis Thompson.

Defeated Sam Horsfield in the quarterfinals of the 2013 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship at Martis Camp Club in California; he fell to Davis Riley in the semifinals.

Also qualified for match play at the 2014 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship at The Club at Carlton Woods, where he fell to Sean Crocker in the Round of 32. Had he defeated Crocker, he would have faced Sahith Theegala in the Round of 16.

Named 2015 Kentucky Mr. Golf and won the individual state title at the 2014 KHSAA Boys Golf Championship, contested at Bowling Green Country Club.
