Met his wife, Landon, while the two were at Oklahoma State University together; he proposed to Landon at his "home" golf course in Tulsa, Oklahoma (Cedar Ridge Country Club).
Both his parents also attended Oklahoma State University
One of his earliest and favorite golf memories was playing in a father-son tournament at a local par 3 course in his hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma

Earned a 2015-16 All-Big 12 Conference selection
Played four seasons at Oklahoma State University (2014-18), winning twice individually and concluding his collegiate career as a member of the 2018 NCAA Championships-winning team, though he did not compete in stroke play or match play at the tournament
Three-time winner of the Oklahoma Golf Association State Amateur Championship, winning the 2014 title at The Patriot Club, 2015 title at Oak Tree National, and the 2017 title at Southern Hills Country Club
Reached match play at the 2017 U.S. Amateur Championship contested at Riviera Country Club (lost in the first round to Theo Humphrey), and reached the quarterfinals of the 2017 Western Amateur (defeated John Pak in the Round of 16, fell to Norman Xiong in the quarterfinals)
