People ask if "Doc" is his real first name, and it actually is; his sister's name is Karma.

Grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he often played and practiced Wildwood Green Golf Club – which was also frequented by two-time PGA TOUR winner Grayson Murray and PGA TOUR winner Ryan Gerard. Redman hit perhaps his best golf shot ever at Wildwood Green in 2012, when he made an albatross on the seventh hole with driver off the deck from 250 yards.

Prepped at Leesville Road High School, the same school as three-time PGA TOUR winner Grayson Murray and Clay Aiken, best known for his runner-up finish in Season 2 of American Idol.

While attending Clemson University and majoring in mathematical sciences, received the Outstanding Freshman Award from the Department of Mathematical Sciences. Redman said of his studies, “I would say math majors choose to challenge themselves because they enjoy math. Theodore Roosevelt said, ‘Nothing in the world is worth having or worth doing unless it means effort, pain, difficulty.’” Redman discovered his passion for math when he took an AP calculus course in high school. While studying at Clemson, he thought it would be awesome to one day become an actuary (someone who calculates risk for insurance companies and pension funds).

En route to his victory at the 2017 U.S. Amateur Championship, received phone calls from Clemson football head coach Dabo Swinney the night before the championship match, and to congratulate him following the win; Swinney told him there are a lot more great moments ahead for him in his career. At the time, Redman had just finished his freshman year at Clemson.

Is a huge Clemson football and baseball fan, in addition to being a fan of his hometown professional sports team -- Carolina Hurricanes (NHL hockey).

Has a passion for the stock market.

Amateur Highlights

Won the 2017 U.S. Amateur in a playoff over Doug Ghim at The Riviera Country Club after he forced extra holes with an eagle-birdie finish; he defeated Ghim on the first playoff hole. Redman notably survived a 13-for-8 playoff to advance to the match play portion of the competition.

Runner-up finisher at the 2017 Western Amateur. Redman defeated Korn Ferry Tour graduate Will Gordon (Round of 16), PGA TOUR winner Min Woo Lee (quarterfinals), and PGA TOUR winner Cameron Champ (semifinals), but fell to Korn Ferry Tour graduate Norman Xiong in the championship match.

Played two seasons at Clemson University (2016-18), earning two individual victories and breaking the school record for career scoring average (70.70) previously held by two-time PGA TOUR winner D.J. Trahan (71.49 from 1999-2003). Earned a 2017 All-America Third Team honor, All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors in 2017 and 2018, in addition to being named the 2017 ACC Freshman of the Year.

As a senior at Leesville Road High School, Redman won the individual state title at the 2016 North Carolina High School Athletic Association Class 4A Championship, contested on Pinehurst No. 8. Other notable players to win the NCHSAA Class 4A individual state title include PGA TOUR winners Brendon Todd (2000, 2002, 2003), Webb Simpson (2004), Grayson Murray (2010), and Ben Griffin (2011, 2013).
