Earliest golf memory is running under the ropes at Harbor Town when he was three years old and running like an airplane behind Ernie Els.

In high school, won the 2011 Bradley Johnson Memorial and was named the 2012 Birmingham Kiwanis Club Player of the Year after taking individual honors as the 6A state champion. Was teammates with Ireland's Paul Dunne, who went on to win the European Tour's 2017 British Masters.

Won the Alabama State Amateur in 2014 and 2015. Also co-medalist at the 2015 Goodwin Intercollegiate.

Was a 2014-15 All-Conference USA second-team member.
