In the middle of 2017, spent three weeks in the hospital with viral encephalitis. Did not play the game for an entire year, until the summer of 2018. Following his hospital stay, he was confined to a wheelchair and had to undergo 10 weeks of physical therapy to learn to walk again. Won the Nevada Open two years after his original diagnosis.
Is involved in the Encephalitis Society.
Is right-handed, but plays left-handed.
In high school, was a three-time hockey all-state recipient and a two-time all-state golf selection.
In a practice round at the Buick Open, at age seven, served as John Daly's caddie for a hole.
Watched Tiger Woods win the 2006 PGA Championship at Medinah GC in Illinois. Snuck into the grandstands on the 18th hole.
Amateur Highlights
Played collegiately for four seasons at Eastern Michigan University (2012-16), where he was a 2016 All-Mid-American Conference Second Team selection, as well as the 2016 MAC Earl Yestingsmeier Sportsmanship Award winner.
