Personal

Proposed to his fiancee, Jazmine, on May 1, 2020; he sent her on a scavenger hunt which sent her to Ragged Point, a headland on California's Central Coast, where he had a tent set up on the beach and proposed to her.

Grew up playing A6 Golf Club in Sweden and says today, "Nothing beats a summer evening round at A6."

Played hockey for about 10 years, eventually giving it up around the time he started high school to focus on golf; he still dreams of playing in the NHL in front of a full crowd at Madison Square Garden.

Favorite teams include HV71, the hockey team he grew up playing for in Sweden, and the New York Rangers (NHL); his favorite athlete is Hockey Hall of Fame inductee and fellow Swede Nicklas Lidstrom, widely regarded as one of the greatest defenseman in NHL history, because Widing idolized him and his playing style as a young hockey player.

Fascinated by astronomy.

A music aficionado who enjoys just about every era of music, especially the 80s.

According to his LinkedIn profile, spent roughly two years (2015-17) as an assistant supply coordinator for Husqvarna Group; the job duties entailed appraising merchandise for shipment and sale to subsidiaries, as well as organizing product supplies and managing the storage of diamond construction tools and products.

Younger brother, Charlie, plays competitive table tennis; he represented Sweden and played in the nation's top league.

Amateur Highlights

Played five seasons at University of San Francisco (2016-21), where he won three times individually and became the sixth student-athlete in school history in any sport to earn four All-West Coast Conference First Team selections.

Earned the 2019-20 Bill Russell Award as the University of San Francisco Male Student-Athlete of the Year.

Made his PGA TOUR debut as an amateur at the 2021 Genesis Invitational; he lost a playoff to Angus Flanagan in the Genesis Invitational Collegiate Showcase and made the six-hour drive back to San Francisco the following morning, only to receive a call that a sponsor exemption (Andy Ogletree) withdrew due to injury and the vacant spot would go to him, so Widing threw everything back in the car and headed right back to Riviera Country Club.

Helped Sweden earn silver medals at the 2014 and 2015 European Boys' Team Championship; the 2015 team defeated Norway in the semifinals, with Widing beating 17-year-old Viktor Hovland 3&1 in a singles match, while the 2014 team defeated Scotland in the semifinals, with Widing and Marcus Svensson combining for a 2&1 victory over Robert MacIntyre and Calum Fyfe.

Also helped Sweden earn a silver medal at the 2015 Toyota Junior Golf World Cup, finishing second to Japan and ahead of bronze medalist South Korea.

Represented Sweden at the 2017 and 2018 European Amateur Team Championships, helping Sweden reach the bronze medal match in 2017 (lost to Italy); the 2018 team featured Widing, Ludvig Aberg, and Pontus Nyholm.

Represented Sweden at the 2018 Eisenhower Trophy contested at Carton House Golf Club in County Kildare, Ireland.

Represented Continental Europe in the 2015 Jacque Leglise Trophy, an annual amateur competition pitting Continental Europe against Great Britain & Ireland; the Continental Europe team also featured Viktor Hovland of Norway.
