One of four members of his immediate family to play NCAA Division I golf; his father, Tony, played four seasons at Columbia University (1975-79) and was a 1979 All-Ivy League selection off the strength of a third-place finish at the Ivy League Championship, while his younger sister, Baile, played four seasons at University of Northern Colorado (2013-17), and his younger brother, Michael, is a sophomore at Wichita State University for the 2022-23 season.

He and both his siblings won an individual and team state title for Overland Park-St. Thomas Aquinas at the KSHSAA Class 5A State Championships; he won individual titles in 2008, 2009, and 2011, in addition to team titles in 2008 and 2011; his younger sister, Baile, won the individual title in fall 2011 and four consecutive team titles from fall 2009 through 2012, while his younger brother, Michael, won the individual title in 2018 and led the team to a title the same year.

Earliest golf memory is being upset about having to go to the course with his dad, then being thrilled when he got a soda in the grill with him at the club.

Enjoys traveling and would like to visit all seven continents (as of fall 2022 he had visited four).

Favorite sports teams are the Kansas City Chiefs (NFL), Kansas City Royals (MLB), and University of Kansas basketball, while his favorite athletes are Patrick Mahomes and Tiger Woods.

Sour Patch Kids are his favorite candy.

Favorite food is pho, a traditional Vietnamese dish.

Building his own platform / business JWiNS Golf, and wants to get involved in the business of golf in the future. Also wants to write a book one day.

Played two and a half seasons at University of Iowa (2011-13), where he garnered a 2013 All-Big Ten Conference Second Team laurel, and played his final season and a half at University of South Florida (2014-15).
