Underwent open-heart surgery right after birth to correct heart stenosis, a narrowing of the aortic valve opening.
An early golf memory is going to the 2003 PGA Championship at Oak Hill with his family and watching Tiger Woods up close.
Attended New Hartford High School in New York, where he was also a member of the hockey team. Comes from a family of athletes. His father, David, played college football at Hamilton (N.Y.) College and his mother, Dawn, played college basketball at Hamilton.
A dedicated lawn care enthusiast with a keen interest in all aspects of landscaping.
Biggest thrill in golf was playing in the 2016 Masters Tournament. Favorite professional teams are the New York Giants, the New York Yankees and the New York Rangers. "Game of Thrones" is his favorite TV series.
Younger brother, Alec, played golf at Penn State University. Younger sister, Sydney, plays professional ice hockey.
Amateur Highlights
Made his PGA TOUR debut, missing the cut at the Masters Tournament (9-over) and the U.S. Open (15-over) at Oakmont CC.
Finished runner-up at the 2015 U.S. Amateur, losing to winner Bryson DeChambeau, 7 and 6. Earned an invitation to the 2016 Masters Tournament and U.S. Open because of that performance.
Competed for the U.S. team at the 2016 Palmer Cup.
Won the 2015 Sunnehanna Amateur and the 2017 Monroe Invitational.
At the University of Virginia, had three collegiate wins, including the Palmetto Intercollegiate as a senior. Earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors three times and was an honorable mention All-American in his final two seasons.
Won the 2012 New York State Public High School Athletic Association Championship.
