Played collegiately for four seasons at University of Texas (2018-22), winning four times individually (thrice as a freshman), with the crown jewel being medalist honors at the 2021 Big 12 Conference Championships. Earned All-America honors as a freshman (2019 First Team) and senior (2022 Third Team), three All-Big 12 selections (2019, 2021, 2022), as well as 2019 NCAA Division I National and Big 12 Freshman of the Year awards.
Finished No. 5 in the PGA TOUR University Class of 2022, earning Korn Ferry Tour membership and exemptions for all remaining open-field events on the 2022 Korn Ferry Tour schedule, as well as Final Stage of the 2022 Korn Ferry Tour Qualifying Tournament.
Earned the 2019 Mark H. McCormack Medal as the No. 1-ranked men’s player in the 2019 World Amateur Golf Ranking.
Posted a 69.94 scoring average as a freshman in 2018-19, the third-lowest single-season scoring average in school records dating back to the 1993-94 season, only trailing Beau Hossler (69.78 in 2015-16) and Doug Ghim (69.66 in 2017-18); his career scoring average of 71.15 ranked fifth in program records dating back to the 1993-94 season, leaving him behind David Gossett (71.03 from 1998-2000), Doug Ghim (70.99 from 2014-18), Jordan Spieth (70.93 from 2011-12), and Beau Hossler (70.72 from 2013-16).
Prior to enrolling at Texas, shared co-medalist honors with Daniel Hillier in the stroke play portion of the 2018 U.S. Amateur Championship at Pebble Beach, after which he defeated Alvaro Ortiz, Joshua McCarthy, Zach Murray, and Alex Fitzpatrick en route to the semifinals. Fell to eventual champion Viktor Hovland (3 and 2) in the semifinals.
Won the 2018 Western Amateur at Sunset Ridge Country Club in Illinois, defeating Class of 2020-21 Korn Ferry Tour graduates Brandon Wu (20 holes) and Davis Riley (1 up) in the semifinals and championship, respectively.
Won the 2018 Azalea Amateur at Country Club of Charleston (South Carolina), an event whose past champions include PLAYERS Championship winner Webb Simpson (2004, 2007) and PGA TOUR winners C.T. Pan (2011) and Ken Green (1978).
Won the 2018 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship alongside Louisiana State University’s Garrett Barber. The two were high school seniors at the time.
Fell to Akshay Bhatia in the semifinals of the 2018 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship at Baltusrol Golf Club.
Played alongside Collin Morikawa and Justin Suh at the 2018 World Amateur Team Championship and helped the United States finish third in pursuit of the Eisenhower Trophy.
Became the third-youngest U.S. Open qualifier in history when he qualified at age 15 for the 2015 championship at Chambers Bay.
