Favorite professional team is the New York Giants.

Father, Mark, is a long-time head professional at Suburban Golf Club (began in 1999) in Union, New Jersey; he played collegiately at Montclair State University, turned professional in 1988, became a member of the PGA of America in 1993, worked as the head pro at Mount Tabor Country Club for seven years prior to transitioning to Suburban Golf Club, won the 2008 New Jersey State Open, won the 2019 New Jersey Senior Open, qualified for the 2012 U.S. Open at The Olympic Club and 2019 U.S. Senior Open at Salem Country Club, and was inducted into the New Jersey PGA Hall of Fame in 2021.

Says he was his father's de facto swing coach after the elder McCormick qualified for the 2012 U.S. Open at the Olympic Club in San Francisco.

Amateur Highlights

Played four seasons at St. John's University (2010-14) in Queens, New York, where he won three tournaments (all as a senior) and was named the 2013-14 BIG EAST Conference Golfer of the Year, as well as the 2013-14 BIG EAST Scholar-Athlete Sports Excellence Award winner.

Garnered three All-BIG EAST honors (2012-14) and All-America Scholar recognition in 2013 and 2014.

Three collegiate wins included medalist honors at the 2014 BIG EAST Championship, which he won by five strokes.

Posted a 71.73 scoring average as a senior in 2013-14, the third-lowest single-season scoring average in program history, only trailing Keegan Bradley's 70.97 from 2006-07 and 71.17 from 2007-08; he also finished third in program history in career scoring average (73.28), only trailing Andrew Svoboda (72.58 from 1999-2003) and Keegan Bradley (72.12 from 2004-08).

Named the 2012 New Jersey State Golf Association Player of the Year.

Posted a dominant summer on the New York and New Jersey amateur circuit in 2012, winning the New Jersey State Golf Association Amateur Championship at Baltusrol and Metropolitan Golf Association Amateur Championship at Hollywood Golf Club, becoming the fifth player in history (and first since Joseph McBride in 1949) to win both championships in the same year.

Finished T2 and earned low amateur honors at the 2012 Metropolitan Open, where he was bidding to become the first player in history to win the Met Open, Met Amateur Championship, and NJSGA Amateur Championship in the same year.

Became the first player in history to win consecutive New York City Amateur Championships in 2011 and 2012; he eagled the first playoff hole to repeat as champion in 2012.
