Earliest golf memory is playing local junior 9-hole tournaments with his buddies and "getting pretty excited for the soda ticket after you got done.
Best memory at a professional event as a fan was the 2003 Masters Tournament. It was a rainy Tuesday and he was able to get 10 autographs. Back then, according to him, "you could walk amongst the players as they walked to the driving range. I held Brad Faxon's umbrella as he gave me his autograph."
Met his wife, Kaitlyn, at University of Illinois, where she played on the golf team as well. She was a three-time state champion in high school, and beat him in a lot of chipping contests in school.
Says helping Illinois to its fourth Big 10 team title is his biggest thrill in golf. Mountain climbing is his biggest thrill away from the game.

Enjoys woodworking in his spare time.

Brother Zach resigned as the assistant golf coach at the University of Illinois so he could caddie full time for his brother during his rookie PGA TOUR season in 2013. His brother also proposed on the seventh green at Pebble Beach.
Favorite courses are Riviera CC and Harbour Town GL, and he would like to play Augusta National. Favorite teams are Illinois, the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bulls, and Derrick Rose is his favorite athlete to watch. Likes to watch ESPN and "Pardon the Interruption." "Tin Cup" is his favorite movie. Kenny Chesney and Darius Rucker are his favorite singers. Likes Mexican food and Buffalo Wild Wings. Favorite gadget is his iPhone and his favorite apps are Chipotle and USA Today. Chicago is his favorite city to visit and likes to vacation at the beach.
Amateur Highlights
Played collegiately at University of Illinois for four seasons (2008-12), helping the Fighting Illini win four consecutive Big Ten Conference Championships and winning seven times as an individual, including a pair of Big Ten titles in 2011 and 2012, making him the first player to win back-to-back Big Ten titles since former world No. 1 Luke Donald (2000-01 at Northwestern) and the first Illinois player to repeat since 12-time PGA TOUR champion Steve Stricker (1988-89).
Earned a pair of All-America honors, garnering a first-team laurel in 2011 and a second-team selection in 2012.
Named the 2012 Big Ten Conference Player of the Year, and earned the 2012 Les Bolstad Award, which recognizes the conference's leader in low scoring average. His 2011-12 scoring average of 71.19 was, at the time, a single-season school record.
Departed Illinois as the program record holder for career scoring average (72.08).
Two-time Illinois state champion at Quincy Senior High School.
