English's longtime hometown of Thomasville, Georgia hosted a PGA TOUR event, the Thomasville Open, at Glen Arven Country Club from 1936-41. Winners of the event included 52-time PGA TOUR winner Byron Nelson (1938) and Lloyd Mangrum (1940), who earned the first of his 36 TOUR titles at the event. Ben Hogan finished T2 in 1941. In September 2019, Glen Arven Country Club began hosting the Harris English Invitational, an annual event on the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour -- a junior circuit English played on as a youngster.
Attended Baylor School (2003-07) in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he led the boys golf team to four state titles (2003-06 -- all contested in the fall). Also won the 2005 individual state title. Teammates at Baylor School included future PGA TOUR winners Keith Mitchell (2005, 2006 state championship-winning teams) and Stephan Jaeger (2006 state championship-winning team).

Not many people know that he is a "Jeopardy" fanatic.
Football fan who follows the Atlanta Falcons and Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL, and is naturally a huge University of Georgia fan.
A week after helping the United States win the 2021 Ryder Cup, made an appearance on ESPN's College Gameday as the guest picker between then-No. 2 Georgia and No. 8 Arkansas in Athens, Georgia. Of course, he picked his Georgia Bulldogs to win (and Georgia went on to win 37-0).
Biggest thrill outside golf was shooting an 11-point buck.
Bucket list includes skydiving, flying in an F16 and driving a NASCAR vehicle.
Lists Davis Love III and Fred Couples as favorite players he followed while growing up.
Amateur Highlights
On July 24, 2011, eight days after his victory at the Southern Amateur, English won the Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational, following Daniel Summerhays (same event in 2007) and Russell Henley (2011 Stadion Classic at UGA) as the third amateur winner in Korn Ferry Tour history. The annual Korn Ferry Tour event has since been renamed the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship and continues to be contested at the Ohio State University Golf Club in Columbus, Ohio. English, who celebrated his 22nd birthday on the eve of his victory, was awarded a sponsor exemption by virtue of being a 2011 All-America selection in his final season at University of Georgia. English delayed turning professional until after the 2011 Walker Cup in September, at which time he accepted Korn Ferry Tour membership.
Played four seasons at University of Georgia (2007-11), where he earned four individual victories and garnered four All-America honors (First Team in 2010, Second Team in 2011; Third Team in 2008 and 2009). Also earned four All-Southeastern Conference honors (First Team in 2009, 2010; Second Team in 2008, 2011).
As a senior at Georgia, was named a team co-captain alongside fellow senior and future PGA TOUR winner Russell Henley.
Earned two of his four collegiate victories as a true freshman in fall 2007 en route to being named the 2007-08 Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Year. Marked the fifth time in a six-year stretch a Georgia golfer earned the award, and all five Bulldogs went on to become PGA TOUR winners -- Kevin Kisner (2003), Brendon Todd (2004), Brian Harman (2006), Hudson Swafford (2007), English (2008).
Earned the third of his four collegiate victories at the 2009 Olympia Fields Illini Invitational at Olympia Field Country Club -- which hosted multiple BMW Championships as part of the FedExCup Playoffs (2020, 2023), two PGA Championships (1925, 1961), two U.S. Opens (1928, 2003), and the 2015 U.S. Amateur -- in the fall of his senior season.
Decorated amateur career included a victory at the 2011 Southern Amateur, contested at Innisbrook Resort -- host of the PGA TOUR's Valspar Championship. The top 25 also featured PGA TOUR winners Richy Werenski (T2), Michael Kim (T8), Ryan Fox (T8), Emiliano Grillo (T14), C.T. Pan (T18), and Justin Thomas (T22). Won the 2007 Georgia Amateur Championship a week before his 18th birthday, which made him one of the youngest champions since 14-year-old Bobby Jones won the inaugural playing of the event in 1916.
