Father, Jim, who passed away in July 2009 after a battle with brain cancer, introduced Jonathan and his older brother, Jordan, to golf as youngsters.

Son, Jackson, signed with the Clemson men’s golf program out of high school (freshman as of the 2025-26 season). Jackson notably won the 2021 Matt NeSmith Junior Championship, was the runner-up finisher (to Miles Russell) at the 2023 Junior PGA Championship, recorded a top-10 at the 2023 Junior PLAYERS Championship, and represented the United States at the 2023 Junior Ryder Cup, 2024 Junior Presidents Cup, and 2024 Toyota Junior World Cup.

Older brother, Jordan, became the head coach of the Clemson men’s golf program in fall 2021; he joined the program’s coaching staff in 2005 as an assistant coach, and he was a three-time finalist for the Jan Strickland Award (the Golf Coaches Association of America award for the nation’s top assistant coach) in his 17 years as an assistant coach.

College teammates at Clemson included PGA TOUR winners Lucas Glover and D.J. Trahan.

Lost his former caddie, Chuck "Brooksie" Hoersch, in July 2012 to pancreatic cancer.

Was an All-America selection in three of his four years at Clemson, including first team in 1999. First-team Academic All-America in 1999. Member of 1999 Walker Cup Team.
