AUGUSTA, Ga. — The Scheffler family can now fill out a foursome.

Scottie and Meredith Scheffler welcomed the birth of their second child, Remy, last week. The news was first reported by the Associated Press and confirmed by Scheffler's agent to PGATOUR.COM.

"We had another boy a couple of weeks ago, and, yeah, it's been really nice and fun," Scheffler told Golf Channel's Cara Banks. "I'm really glad they were able to travel with me this week and you know, my wife is a trooper and brought the boys this week and, yeah it's been fun."

The full Scheffler family was visible and on-site at Augusta National on Sunday. Meredith and their firstborn child, Bennett, watched as Scheffler warmed up for an afternoon practice round. The newborn Remy was nearby in a stroller with Scheffler’s parents, Scott and Diane. The Schefflers now have two boys under the age of 2. Bennett is nearing his second birthday, born in May 2024.

In terms of how their new addition is affecting the household, Scheffler assured folks Tuesday in his pretournament press conference that "I'm getting plenty of sleep."

"My wife's a trooper," Scheffler said. "Yeah, having a newborn is always an interesting thing, but Remy is so young right now, they sleep a lot of the day. I think he's used to being in the womb at this point. Yeah, I've been able to get a decent amount of sleep."

He also shed some light on how they chose the name Remy, noting: "Mer liked kind of the 'i,' 'e' or 'y' at the end of the name. We had Bennett first, and we can call him Bennie if we like the 'i-e.' Remy was a name we liked. No real significance to it. We looked on the Internet and found some stuff, but it's quite metaphorical and a stretch for what the name means. I'm not going to share that. I'll probably butcher it if I try, so I'll get back to you on that. It was something that we liked, and that's pretty much it."

As for how big brother Bennett has taken to his new sibling, Scheffler admits he and Meredith might have met their match: "Last night we were leaving a Nike party, and he somehow ended up with two sugar cookies and he hadn't eaten his dinner yet. It was like, 'All right, buddy, if you eat these sausages, I will give you this cookie.' He's like, 'Cookie.' I'm like, 'If you eat this.' My buddies are sitting there watching, 'Yep, I've seen this movie before. It's bargaining.'"

Scheffler withdrew from the Texas Children’s Houston Open due to family reasons in anticipation of Remy’s birth. The two-time Masters champion has not played competitively since THE PLAYERS Championship, which he finished in a tie for 22nd.

Seventh in the FedExCup, Scheffler won his opening start at The American Express in January. He added top fives at the WM Phoenix Open and AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am before finishing outside the top 10 at The Genesis Invitational, snapping a modern-era record of 18 consecutive top-10 finishes.

Scheffler had ideally tried to play at least one of the Texas events to prepare for the Masters, though his absence was well worth it. And if Scheffler wins the green jacket for a third time later this week, he will have another new member of the family ready to greet him.
