PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. — The opening round of THE PLAYERS Championship was suspended due to heavy rain in the TPC Sawgrass area at 12:09 p.m. ET.
12:30 p.m.: Play has resumed after a 21-minute weather delay. There is no rain currently in the area of TPC Sawgrass, but there is a potential for later weather systems Thursday afternoon. All Round 1 afternoon tee times have been delayed 30 minutes.
12:27 p.m.: Rain has already moved over the course, and players are preparing to resume play.
12:09 p.m.: Players are currently being held in place as the system makes its way over the Ponte Vedra Beach area.
