Attended the Memorial Tournament growing up to watch his cousin Brett Wetterich play. Saw him contend and almost win in 2006.

Played collegiately for three seasons at Ohio State University (2016-19) after transferring from Xavier University (2015-16).

At Ohio State, garnered a 2019 All-Big Ten Conference First Team selection, a 2018 All-Big Ten Second Team laurel, and Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2017 and 2019. His only collegiate victory came at the 2019 Robert Kepler Intercollegiate, which is held at the Ohio State University Golf Club's Scarlet Course.

In his lone season at Xavier, he earned All-BIG EAST Conference First Team recognition and was the 2016 BIG EAST Freshman of the Year.
