Was an accomplished high school baseball player, helping his Divine Child team to back-to-back state championships, in 2004 and 2005. Lettered twice in baseball, three times in golf and three times in bowling. Was an all-state bowling selection his junior and senior years.

Father, George, played college basketball at Oakland University. Mom, Nancy, played collegiate softball at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Brother, George, was a bowler at Saginaw Valley State University.

Was a 2010 Ping Division II All-American second-team selection and a GCAA Ping All-Midwest team member.
